Æthraxia was born out of a conversation between guitarist/composer Steve Langemo and drummer Stefan Flores while tearing down after playing a show with a funk/soul artist. Steve and Stefan have both been full-time musicians for decades and discussed revisiting their metal roots with an original metal project that would draw on their experience as instrumentalists and combine a wide range of influences.
Steve began writing and recording demos at his home studio, and found that he had something to say in the genre and a unique blend of progressive metal and other styles was coming together quickly. They knew they would need a stellar vocalist to front the band. Steve started looking around the region for an experienced and unique vocalist, and the universe got him in touch with Tanner Morrison who had just moved to Denver.
Despite being a generation apart in age, Steve and Tanner found that they shared a musical, lyrical, and messaging vision for the band and they started working on demos of original material. They quickly moved from working on material in Steve's home studio to tracking the full debut album at Denver's Colorado Sound Studios with the help of engineer/producer Steve Avedis.
We are hard at work in the studio and our music will be available and streaming everywhere soon!!!
STAY TUNED!!!

Born with the voice of a god, Tanner grew up hiding his talents due to the extreme religious doctrines of the cult he was born into. Instead, he learned the language of music by first studying classical piano, and then cello. His first stage performance was at the age of 4 years old. He cried due to stage fright, was reassured by his father, and never got anxious to perform again. As a teen, he played in orchestras and in the pit during musicals.
After breaking free from his childhood cult, he discovered his voice, singing with a professional choir as first tenor. Quickly becoming the main soloist, he began to realize he had something special.
It was when he joined his local drag troupe that he discovered his talent for working a crowd. Lady May Hungbe, his alter ego, would captivate audiences with risque performances and soaring vocals.
During a trip to Mexico he was approached by a witch, who promised him a supernatural ability if he could survive a single night of pure torment. “Everybody receives something different,” she told him. With nothing to lose, he agreed.
That night he screamed. And he screamed. And he SCREAMED. Roaring against the pain, clinging to life by pure spite, he endured. After that, everything changed. Possessed by Legion, he gained the ability to reach both heaven and hell, channeling the voice of an angel in one breath, then bawling and shrieking with the entire horde of hell in the next.
Be sure to do a few “hail mary’s” before letting his voice push into your earhole. You never know what might happen.
